Join us for "Real Men Read 2"

Hosted by Alfred G. Waters Middle School
February 23, 2010
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Calling all boys! Who says it’s not cool to read?!

Research shows that boys’ recreational reading time during the ‘tween and teen years doesn’t keep pace with girls’. As a result, their skills and comprehension can lag. To combat the problem, Alfred G. Waters is playing host to “Real Men Read 2,” a night of male-bonding and fun designed to celebrate the importance of reading for young men of all ages.

Organized by Appoquinimink’s Library Media Specialists, the evening features appearances by local celebrities from the world of sports, music, law enforcement and other “macho” careers, who pay tribute to the fact that no matter where you go in life, or what you do, reading is important!

The list of special events includes a keynote address by Ed Okonowicz. Okonowicz—voted Best Local Book Author in 2005 in Delaware Today—is known for his chilling tales and fascinating ghost legends drawn from oral histories of the region, as well as his suspenseful mystery series set in the DelMarVa peninsula. For more on our other guests, see the attached flier.
